In an abundance of caution, NJ TRANSIT hired an industrial hygienist to take indoor air samples of the General Office Building (GOB) in Maplewood following Saturday morning’s fire that destroyed several units of a condominium complex being constructed adjacent to the GOB and Hilton Garage.
The company monitored 21 locations throughout the GOB with a focus on areas with walls closest to the condominium fire and found the indoor air quality was satisfactory and within acceptable air parameters. To help reduce any remaining odor from the fire, building services is also changing out all the HVAC filters.
In addition, there were several outside windows that sustained some heat damage. Plywood is being installed until permanent windows can be put in.
Members of the Office of System Safety also inspected the parking deck and found it was safe to occupy and remains operational. Employees can also park across the street in the Maplewood Pool Lot without restrictions at this time.
If anyone has any questions or concerns, please contact your immediate supervisor.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and be safe.
