Brothers and Sisters,
The GCA has met with the carrier and the mediator twice in the last week. During the first of the two meetings, The GCA made it very clear that NJT has been under paying engineers. We presented the pay scales of other railroads which operate in and out of the same geographical location as NJT. I will tell you NJT engineers pay scale is approximately 20% to 25% less. We made it clear that NJT has been stealing from its employees for many years and it is now time to correct that inequality( “EQUAL PAY FOR EQUAL WORK”)( A FAIRER NEW JERSEY TRANSIT). We remained optimistic but during the second meeting NJT refused to discuss wages. This is unacceptable and the mediator informed NJT of such. We will and I am determined to make a stand for equal pay. That being said I am personally starting a strike fund. I advise all brothers and sisters to do the same. If we are to be successful in this fight we must have the ability to walk a picket line. When I receive more information I will pass it along. As always with unity comes strength. I thank all of you for your support.
Thank you,
