Brothers and Sisters,
The GCA met with the carrier this week.
As expected NJT is still not negotiating in good faith. They have again presented the same package as before. This is a substandard proposal, and we will not even consider it.
The mediator has agreed we are at an impasse. He is recommending that we be released, and this would move us into the final phase under the Railway Labor Act. The GCA has also sent a second letter to the NMB requesting release. We are awaiting their decision.
Now that we have reached this point in the negotiations process, we will take a Strike Vote. Look for a Strike ballot in the mail in the next 60 days. We need everyone to vote. This shows the carrier we are united in our efforts to secure a fair contract.
IN UNITY THERE IS STRENGTH!
STAND STRONG, WE WILL PREVAIL!
Fraternally,
Jim Brown
General Chairman
